What is Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)?

Minimum Order Quantity refers to the minimum quantity that a supplier sets for a specific product for you to place an order. Generally MOQ products will be cheaper than MOD products because it costs less to manufacture in bulk than for just one item. 

Suppliers will request payment upfront for MOQ products as they will be producing the stock and you will need to pay for it in full. Some suppliers may also offer to hold the stock for you, at a cost, where they keep track of your inventory and fulfil your orders as they are placed. 

If you know that your customers will buy a certain quantity of a product, then it may be more profitable for you to purchase MOQ products. If you are unsure if your customers will buy, it’s best to test the waters with a MOD product. Although a MOD product will be more expensive, there is less risk and no financial outlay.
